Karoo comes from the Khoi name Karusa which means "place of thirst". It is an area well known for its endless plains and mountains, scorching hot summers and icy cold winters. A large variety of succulents are to be found here and, to complement the unique flora, a number of impressive game farms have recently been developed, offering a surprising variety of wildlife.

The contemporary design rooms are spacious and equiped with DSTV and a fridge/freezer. Each of our suites leads out onto its own private, furnished patio; the perfect setting to enjoy coffee and rusks in the fresh, pure morning air.

A few popular restaurants, coffee shops, supermarkets and museum are within walking distance from our location.

Named after Sir Henry Cole, Colesberg was granted town status in 1822 and is steeped in a rich history. Beginning as a mission and later becoming a frontier town and trading centre, Colesberg today is home to some of the best stockmen in South Africa. The excellent soil in the area is ideal for breeding strong, healthy livestock and some of the world's top merino sheep, cattle, and even racing pigeons are bred here. There is a long history of horse breeding in the Colesberg district too and the legendary golfer Gary Player owns a race horse stud farm nearby.
